While classes are held remotely, the NVC Library is always available! You can access articles, eBooks, eAudiobooks, & eMagazines for FREE through our online platforms. Feel free to use one of our many methods to contact us.

EBSCO Faculty Select Search

EBSCO is offering a simplified version of Faculty Select that includes access to OER material as well as the option to discover more than 225,000 DRM-free EBSCO eBooks in one place, available at no charge for faculty to use through June 30, 2020. 

Faculty can find open educational resources by doing a search and then using the check boxes to the left side of the page to limit to only OER. 

The DRM-free books are not all available online as openly licensed, however but if you see a DRM-free title that you would like the library to purchase for your course please contact the library at nvc-library@alamo.edu.

Information Literacy Classes

While the library is closed, we will continue to provide Information Literacy (IL) Instruction.  Please view our options below. 

  • Via Zoom.  Using zoom, we can provide instruction to your students on how to use library resources and citing.  For more information view our IL Request form HERE. 
  • Library Modules (a.k.a Library IL Modules): The online modules cover a range of topics related to the research process and APA, MLA or Chicago style citations. Each one also comes with a quiz. After students complete each quiz they can email a certificate to their instructors. Click HERE to browse the library modules.
  • Canvas Library Orientation Course and Modules: The library orientation course can be found in the Canvas Commons by searching "NVC Library Orientation."  Download the entire Course, or just a single module, into your Canvas shell. Each module has a quiz that can sync with your grade book.
