Keyword Search - Examples: jazz, Mozart, trumpet
Phrases - Use parentheses when it is essential for words to be searched together as a phrase. Example: "music theory"
Boolean Operators - Combine two search terms to focus a topic by using AND, OR, or NOT. Example: Texas AND music.
Synonyms - Brainstorm different words for the concept and use those terms also. Examples: voice, vocal
Truncation - Use an asterisk * to take the place of letters so that variant forms can be searched at the same time. Example: music* searches music, musician, musical.
Nesting - You can make searches more specific by using parentheses. Example: (voice OR vocal) AND instruction.
To find books of printed music in the NVC Library, use One Search. In your results list, use the left-hand side filters to choose "Musical Score".
Similarly, you can find video, either DVD or streaming, by filtering for "Video".
