Authority is constructed: various communities may recognize different types of authority.
Authority is contextual: the information need may help to determine the level of authority required.

Information possesses several dimensions of value: commodity, education, influence, negotiating, and understanding the world.  Legal and socioeconomic interests influence information production and dissemination.

Keep an open-mind, know your bias, and be a skeptic.
