Course Reserves Guidelines and Policy

To Place An Item On Reserve

An Instructor or Department may place an item on reserve by filling out the Reserve Request Form.  A copy of the form, and a helpful fair use checklist, are available on the left side of the page.


Reserve Articles/Books/Textbooks:

  • Please allow three days for processing.

  • Instructors/Departments can place up to five books on reserve each semester.  This limit includes original copies the instructor owns and items from the library's circulating collection. 

  • Instructors/Departments may place one copy of any textbook on Reserve for their students.   

  • Reserve items may be checked out by students for two-hour in library use only.  Textbooks and other Reserve items cannot leave the library building even for situations such as open-book exams held on campus.

  • All reprinted articles and book chapters must comply with current copyright laws and include 1) citation information and 2) copyright information clearly listed on the front of each item.

 

Reserve Videos/DVDs:

  • Please place your requests a minimum of one week in advance to ensure that the Video/DVD will be available to show in class.

  • Instructors can place up to five videos/DVDs on reserve each semester.  This limit includes original copies the instructor owns and items from the library's circulating collection. 

  • If a video/DVD is being shown in class, the Instructor is responsible for checking out and making sure the video/DVDs is returned. 

  • Students will not be allowed to check out items for their instructors and should not be made responsible for returning the item after use.  

  • After a reserve video/DVD is shown in class it will be placed on reserve for in-library use for a period of two weeks.

 

The library is not accountable for theft of or damages to Instructor/Department owned items on Course Reserves and is not responsible for any fees associated with replacing or repairing items.
