Submitting Zines

The NVC Zine Library accepts all student, faculty, and community submissions!

We ask that zines meet the following criteria:

The zine is a reproduction not an original (i.e. pieces aren't taped or glued on)
The submitter is the person who made the zine (so they can grant permission for it to be collected, cataloged, and checked out by library users).

Steps for submitting:

Either email PDF copy of the zine to rrodriguez679@alamo.edu, OR give a hard copy to the Circulation Desk with a note, Attention: Rose

Printing and Layout Help

Mini Zine Template
This template can be used to create a one page mini zine. When folded it creates 6 pages, plus a front and back cover page.

PowerPoint Template for 8.5 x 11 Zine

Download and modify this template to make a zine that prints on a regular 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and fold down the middle to make a booklet

Canva Template for 8.5 x 11 Zine

To use this zine template you will need to make a copy to your Canva account. On the left hand side, next to Home, select File and click on Make a Copy.

Printing

If your zine is a standard booklet made from an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper folded in half with the text in a landscape orientation you will want to print it double sided and select flip on the short edge. This will keep your pages from printing upside down.

Supplies

The NVC Library offers the following zine making supplies:

Long arm stapler (Please ask at the circulation desk). This is a long stapler that can staple in the middle of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.
Zine kits- available for in library use checkout, these include gluesticks, scissors, tape, and colored pencils.
Typewriter - Please allow time for set up. We can provide a few sheets of blank paper.
Paper cutter.
